Once there, she finds herself in the middle of a rivalry between brothers. One brother who desires her heart, the other, her blood.
Normally drawn to a more self-sufficient female character than Evvie, I was surprised by how much I was rooting for her. Watching her struggle to decipher dream from reality made her a more interesting character and kept me interested.
I was more drawn to Auri’s character. The way the claim slowly took him was interesting to watch. His struggle made him very believable.
Army of the Winter Court is Ali Winter’s best book yet. Its surreal quality made me feel like I was in a dream for most of the book. The world she created is hauntingly beautiful with vivid descriptions that drew me in.

Ali is a brilliant world creator. I can’t wait to see where she takes us next.

Army of the Winter Court is about a battle between Aurelian and Nolan for control of the Winter Court. Their sister, Lilith, has set rules so that neither one will have an unfair advantage.

Evvie is a college student who meets a man named Ian. After one date with him, she suddenly feels strange. She takes a skeleton key and unlocks the door to another world, where she is the prize in the battle between Aurelian and Nolan.

This is a novella, not a full length book, so the story moves along quickly. I won't say too much more about the story, to avoid plot spoilers. I thought it was a good story. I wanted more development, but that's not in a novella. The author focuses on the 4 main characters, which is good for a novella. Too many cooks spoil the broth. When they mentioned it was winter all the time, I couldn't help but think of Frozen. Granted, there was no talking snowman named Olaf. but there were some similarities, especially compared to The Snow Queen, which is the original tale on which Frozen is based. Again, I can't say too much because of spoilers.

This is part of the Skeleton Key series. I look forward to reading other books in the series.
Evvie is now at college with her friend and roommate, Silvia. When she meets the mysterious Ian, she instantly feels a connection. After their date, she falls very ill and find a skeleton key with a mysterious note. After she realizes how to use the key, she finds herself in a realm beyond anything she could imagine. She meets Ian, later known as Auri in this strange realm and learns that not only are the fae real, but they aren't the cute, winged creatures of fairy tales. Everyone is only giving her half-truths, but one thing is for certain... She has to choose between two brothers to be king... One wants her heart and the other wants her blood. Who will she choose? Why her? Is this all just a dream?

This is a GREAT book!! The twists and turns are awesome and the characters are very developed. The ending was very unexpected and the key definitely made this whole adventure of a book possible. I'm very excited to read more books from the Skeleton Key Series. This is a book for all ages and I would definitely recommend this book... I take that back, I recommend reading every book by Ali Winters. I love you, Ali! )
I really enjoyed this book. It had a through the looking glass kind of feel to it. I enjoyed the world that is introduced to us and there is an interesting twist near the end! It is a good read and I definitely recommend it.
This story was not at all what I expected. It was better. Two brothers put against each other for one woman. The scheme set in motion by their little sister. Let the games begin, winner takes all or do they. Very surprising ending. I loved the story and would recommend it to anyone who loves a great story plot, and of course the Fae. Ali Winters out did herself on this one.
